Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC) & Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Co-operation (APSMCC)

Step into a professional airline-style environment with Stapleford Flight Centre’s MCC, JOC, and APS MCC training programmes. Designed and delivered by experienced airline captains, these courses prepare you to operate effectively as part of a multi-crew flight deck.

Training is conducted using our advanced ALSIM ALX FNPT2 medium jet simulator, combining realistic scenario-based exercises with structured ground school to develop the technical and non-technical skills required for modern airline operations.

MCC / JOC & APS MCC

The Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC), Jet Orientation Course (JOC), and Airline Pilot Standard MCC (APS MCC) introduce pilots to working as part of a professional flight crew.

Throughout the course, you will be paired with another student, working together to develop communication, coordination, and decision-making skills within a multi-crew environment. Training includes both simulator sessions and ground school, ensuring a balanced and practical learning experience.

The APS MCC is a more advanced, airline-focused programme. It includes extended training time, a broader theoretical syllabus, and concludes with a formal assessment of competence.

Although the course is conducted entirely in a simulator, students are expected to maintain the same standards of professionalism, preparation, and discipline as required in live flight training.

Course Pathways

APS MCC (Airline Pilot Standard)

Our most comprehensive and airline-oriented course, designed to maximise readiness for airline selection.

  • Extended ground school (5 days)
  • 42 hours simulator training
  • Emphasis on airline procedures and swept-wing operations
  • LOFT (Line Oriented Flight Training) exercises with increasing complexity
  • Final assessment conducted by TRI/TRE or SFI

Key areas of study include:

  • Threat & Error Management (TEM)
  • Crew Resource Management (CRM)
  • Flight Time Limitations (FTL)
  • Swept-wing theory
  • Upset Prevention & Recovery
  • Safety Management Systems (SMS)

15 Day Course – £5,995

Standard MCC / JOC

A structured introduction to multi-crew operations and jet handling.

  • Multi-crew coordination and communication
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Human Factors and Crew Resource Management
  • Introduction to jet aircraft systems and handling

Courses are delivered in a generic A320/B737-style environment using the ALSIM ALX simulator.

8 Day MCC – £2,695
10 Day MCC/JOC – £3,095
2 Day JOC – £1,195

Training Environment

All MCC and JOC training takes place in our dedicated simulator facility using the ALSIM ALX FNPT2 medium jet simulator, providing a realistic airline-style environment for multi-crew training.

This advanced simulator enables you to:

  • Multi-crew operations
  • Jet handling techniques
  • High-altitude flight characteristics
  • Abnormal and emergency scenarios
  • Line-oriented flight exercises

The simulator includes key features found in modern jet aircraft, including flight management systems, weather radar, and TCAS, providing an ideal platform to prepare for airline operations.

What You’ll Gain

  • Practical experience in a multi-crew flight deck
  • Strong understanding of airline procedures and SOPs
  • Enhanced CRM and decision-making skills
  • Exposure to realistic airline scenarios and simulator assessments
  • Increased confidence transitioning to airline training

Designed for Airline Preparation

These courses are specifically designed for pilots progressing toward airline careers. Many airlines include simulator assessments as part of their recruitment process, and MCC/JOC training provides essential preparation for this stage.

You will also gain insight into airline expectations, helping you approach future opportunities with confidence and professionalism.

Pre-Entry Requirements

To commence the course, you must hold, or have previously held, a valid Instrument Rating (IR(A)) on your licence.

Make the Most of the Course

Approach the training as you would a professional flying role. Work closely with your course partner, prepare thoroughly for each session, and take every opportunity to learn from the experience.

Although conducted in a simulator, the standards expected mirror those of a real flight deck and the habits you develop here will carry directly into your future airline career.

Advanced Simulator Training Facilities

At Stapleford Flight Centre, our dedicated Simulator Building is equipped with state-of-the-art ALSIM ALX medium-jet flight simulators, providing an immersive and highly realistic training environment. These advanced simulators form a core part of our MCC, JOC, and APSMCC programmes, supporting students as they develop the skills and confidence required for modern airline operations.

The ALSIM ALX FNPT II MCC simulator offers a versatile ‘generic’ jet platform incorporating features from both Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft. Equipped with twin FMCs, CDUs, weather radar, and TCAS, it provides a highly relevant introduction to a modern airline flight deck environment.

Training is designed to reflect real-world airline operations. Students learn to operate using standard airline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), developing key competencies in communication, decision-making, and effective crew coordination. The programme also places strong emphasis on managing non-normal and emergency scenarios, preparing students for the demands of multi-crew flying.

For those progressing directly toward jet operations, the simulator provides an ideal platform to build experience aligned with airline expectations. With simulator assessments now a key part of most airline selection processes, students gain valuable jet-oriented experience, alongside guidance on airline interviews and insight into what airlines look for in prospective pilots.

In addition to jet training, the simulator supports both EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument Systems) and conventional instrument modes for SEP and MEP training. This allows for continuity throughout your training, with the ability to replicate aircraft from our fleet, including the Warrior, Arrow, and Seneca.
While not a type rating, the use of an advanced medium jet simulator ensures you gain meaningful, transferable experience ahead of airline recruitment. We encourage prospective students to visit and experience the quality of training first-hand.

JOC Course – 16 Hours

With the complex generic medium jet version of the ALX we have the perfect platform to demonstrate characteristics of flight at high altitude in a swept wing aircraft. Also considered are operations at extreme temperatures both high & low. Realistic loft exercises where TCAS, extreme weather including windshear are encountered.

As part of the course you will have hands on experience of programming and learning functions of a Honeywell FMC CDU trainer, as used on both Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
